THE WAY FORWARD FOR KGC BY REV. ANN MUHIA

Dear friends,

Kenyan Global Church needs to get people’s attention and awaken their interest in such a way as to draw them to the church and enable them to feel the love of the people in the church and the Lord of the Church.

It is the mission of this church to help heal the wounds of humankind. That is what churches are intended to do.

The single most important aspect of a church’s ability to attract new members is the degree to which members invite others. The best known church growth statistics indicates that 75% to 90% of all adults who join a church are first brought by a friend or relative. There is no effective means of church growth than the personal invitations extended by church members.

When both non-churched and churched people are asked what they look for in a church, all of them agree about one factor. That is, the climate of the church. They are looking for a church in which they feel at home, where the people are friendly, and where there is a warm and comfortable atmosphere. The warmth and friendliness of the congregation are the most important characteristics of churches effective in attracting new members. That is why we all must be friendly and cheerful.

Joy is an essential element in worship. Worship is meant to be an uplifting experience that enables people to leave the service strengthened and equipped for life. The hope is that worshippers will identify with the Psalmist who report: “I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go into the house of the Lord’ Ps 122 vs. 1. Joy is communicated by the attitude and expression of both those that lead worship and the worshippers. That is why our motto in this church is simply: “I don’t want stress. I want to be happy.”

God has called us to love one another. Friendship and love are offered for their own sake, not as an enticement to attract people. We love because that is what we are called to do by the gospel.
